Frequently asked questions
I bought a plan but the app still says Free
Open Settings › Plan in the app and tap “Restore purchases” using the same Apple Account you paid with. If it still doesn’t show up, email us with the purchase date.
Apple Pencil doesn’t write or skips
Make sure the pencil is charged and connected in Settings › Bluetooth. If your finger draws too and you don’t want it to, go to Settings › Fingers in Pensibly and set “Draw with finger” to Never (in Automatic, fingers scroll as soon as we detect a pencil).
How do I back up my notes?
On Lite, Plus or Pro, open Profile › Account › Pensibly Cloud and tap Save my notes (Guardar mis notas) for manual backups. Plus and Pro also sync your library automatically across devices with the same account. Recordings are included once finished. You can recover a backup as a new note or export a note as a PDF.
How do I request a refund?
Apple processes all payments, so refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com with your Apple Account.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile › Account › Delete account. All the details are on our account deletion page.
Is Pensibly free?
Yes. The Free plan is free forever and includes 3 notes of up to 2 pages, pen, pencil and highlighter, and 3 AI summaries a month. When you need more, upgrade to Lite, Plus or Pro anytime.
Which devices does it work on?
iPad and iPhone with iPadOS or iOS 17 or later, and Android 7 or later. Write with a compatible stylus or your finger. Android transcription requires Android 13+ and compatible local recognition.
Do I need an Apple Pencil?
No — you can write and draw with your finger. With Apple Pencil you get pressure, tilt, double-tap and squeeze, and the app ignores your palm while you write.
How do AI-graded exams work?
Choose the notes you want to review and Pensibly builds an exam with questions based on them, as just another page in your notebook. Solve it by hand with your pencil; when you hand it in, the AI reads your handwriting, grades each answer against a rubric and gives you a score with feedback. Included in Plus (5 a month) and unlimited in Pro.
