Is Pensibly free?
Yes. The Free plan is free forever and includes 3 notes of up to 2 pages, pen, pencil and highlighter, and 3 AI summaries a month. When you need more, upgrade to Lite, Plus or Pro anytime.
Which devices does it work on?
iPad and iPhone with iPadOS or iOS 17 or later, and Android 7 or later. Write with a compatible stylus or your finger. Android transcription requires Android 13+ and compatible local recognition.
Do I need an Apple Pencil?
No — you can write and draw with your finger. With Apple Pencil you get pressure, tilt, double-tap and squeeze, and the app ignores your palm while you write.
How do AI-graded exams work?
Choose the notes you want to review and Pensibly builds an exam with questions based on them, as just another page in your notebook. Solve it by hand with your pencil; when you hand it in, the AI reads your handwriting, grades each answer against a rubric and gives you a score with feedback. Included in Plus (5 a month) and unlimited in Pro.
Does the AI read my notes without asking?
No. Your notes are stored on your device, and only the pages or recordings you choose to process with AI are sent to our servers. We never sell your data or use it to train AI models.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Writing, annotating PDFs and recording audio work without internet. On Plus and Pro, changes sync when you reconnect. If two devices edit the same note, this device’s changes are preserved in a separate note. Recordings are included once you finish them. AI and manual backups need a connection.
How do my notes appear on another device?
With Plus or Pro, sign in with the same account and your notes and folders appear directly in your library; you do not need to import each backup. Check the status or tap Sync now (Sincronizar ahora) in Profile › Account › Pensibly Cloud. Lite includes manual backups you can recover as a new note.
Which languages does the AI support?
Pensibly recognizes your handwriting and generates summaries, flashcards and exams in English and Spanish.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple account. To cancel, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I switch plans?
Yes. All plans live in the same Apple subscription group, so you can upgrade or downgrade from the app at any time. Upgrades apply immediately.
